1. Get Inspired. Watch sports themed movies that will have your kids laughing hysterically or reaching for the stars. Check out ILTWYP’s own list of top choices.
2. Get in Shape. Run a mile with your kid every day. It’s bonding, challenging and good for your heart.
3. Develop their game. Choose one specific skill. Focus on it for 15 minutes each day. For example – soccer/juggling, basketball/cross over, volleyball/overhead serve, baseball/pop-flys.
4. Kick It Old School. Teach them to play kick the can, Simon Says, hide and seek, Capture the flag, or another fun game from your childhood.
5. Family Olympics. Even if it’s too cold to go outside, grab your virtual sports controllers and have a family Olympics, Gamer Style.

6. Make It Real. Go to a live sporting event so your child can see their sport played at a higher level. High School and College games are great and easily accessible.
7. Mind/Body Connection. Spend 10 minutes each day working on sports visualization and meditation. This can be life changing. Meditation eases anxiety and can help your young athlete focus in school, sports and life.
8. Set Goals For The Upcoming Year. Take a hard look at what’s working for your child and your family. Are your goals realistic? Do they need to be higher? What level of success does your child want to achieve and work backwards with a streamlined plan.
9. Work The Weak Side. Spend 15 minutes every day working on their weak side foot or hand.
