The Parents Of Drew Maggi Never Stopped Believing. Because sometimes it’s about the journey…and the destination. At 33 years old, Drew Maggi finally got his big chance. After 1,154 games played and 13 years in the minors, Drew Maggi got the call of his life. The Pittsburgh Pirates were promoting him to the big leagues.
The game was less than interesting, but Maggi’s story captivated the country as fans chanted his name in the final minutes.

Maggi was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and was a standout baseball player in high school, earning multiple honors and leading his team to the state championship. After graduation, he went on to play college ball at Arizona State University, where he continued to excel on the diamond.
Despite his success in college, Maggi faced significant hurdles when trying to make it to the professional ranks. In 2010, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 15th round, the 447th pick of the MLB draft. However, he struggled in the minor leagues, batting just .211 in his first season with the organization. Despite these setbacks, he remained determined to succeed and continued to work hard, both on and off the field.
Over the next few years, Maggi bounced around between different teams and struggled to find success at the plate. He spent time with the Altoona Curve, Indianapolis Indians, and West Virginia Power, among others. However, he never let these setbacks discourage him, and he continued to work hard on his game, determined to achieve his dream of playing in the big leagues.
Maggi’s story is a Hollywood movie in the making. Through his unwavering commitment, he’s shown that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible and that sometimes it’s about more than just the journey.
